Most Clan Membership and Discord bot problems come down to two things: the bot is linked to the wrong account, or your clan tag isn't on file yet. This page covers both, plus the other common cases.
The bot says I need a Clan Membership, but I have one
This almost always means your Discord is linked to a different account than the one holding the seat. It's common when someone buys the license on the website but links Discord from a separate trial account.
To fix it:
- Run
/linkagain and open the Connect Discord page. - Check the email shown — is it the account that owns or holds a seat on the license?
- If not, use Switch account to log out, sign in with the correct account, and confirm.
The bot identifies you by your linked account, not by your player tag — so two accounts that share the same player tag are still different identities.
The bot says there's no clan on file
The bot learns your clan tag the first time you load the Clan dashboard while signed in. If you've never opened it, your clan tag may be empty.
To fix it:
- Make sure your player tag is saved on your TrophyCoach account.
- Open the Clan dashboard once — this backfills your clan tag automatically.
- Re-run the command, or pass the tag explicitly, e.g.
/warplan clan_tag:#YOURCLAN.
A command says the clan isn't in a war
Commands like /warplan, /predict, and /attacks read the live war. Outside of a war (or on a training day) they'll tell you the clan isn't in an active battle. Try them on a war/battle day. /whylost works between wars because it reads your recent battle log instead.
The slash commands don't show up
Slash commands only appear in servers where the bot has been added, and can take a moment to register. Fully close and reopen Discord. If they still don't appear, a server admin may need to re-add the bot.
Frequently asked questions
Two of us share the same player tag — does that break anything?
The bot treats each TrophyCoach account as a separate identity even if they share a player tag. Link Discord to (and sign in with) the account that holds the seat.
I just bought the license but the dashboard is still "setting up."
Reload the Clan dashboard. Checkout finalizes in the background; a reload picks up the active license.
I'm a member, not the owner — how do I get covered?
Ask the license owner to share the clan, then connect at the Clan dashboard. If a seat is available, you'll claim one and see a "you're covered" panel.
Reminders aren't posting on war days.
Make sure you ran /reminders on in the channel you want them in, and that the license is active. Reminders only fire on battle days when members still owe attacks.
